| Asturian Beans with Clams |
"A usual dish from Asturias, Spain. The exceptional way to consume beans!"
Ingredients :
- half of pound dry fava beans
- bloodless water, as wanted
- three tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, peeled
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 small onion, peeled
- three sprigs sparkling parsley
- 1 pinch saffron threads
- 3 tablespoons dry bread crumbs
- 1 pound clams in shells
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/four teaspoon vinegar
- 3/4 cup water
- salt to flavor

- Place the beans in a big container and cover with several inches of cool water; permit stand for 8 hours or in a single day. Drain.
- Transfer the beans o a saucepan, cover with bloodless water, and convey the water simply to boiling over high warmness.
- Pour the olive oil into a huge pot. Add the garlic clove, bay leaf, complete peeled onion, and parsley sprigs. (If you have kitchen cord, tie the parsley sprigs collectively so they may be easier to eliminate.)
- When the water and beans are boiling, drain the beans and pour them into the pot with the olive oil and seasonings. Add fresh cold water to cover. Cover the pan and cook dinner the beans over very low heat until simply smooth, about 1 1/2 hours. Remove the onion and parsley sprigs.

- When the beans are gentle, add salt to taste and stir within the reserved clams. Ladle the beans and clams into bowls and serve.
Notes :
- You can prepare dinner the clams the usage of a dry white wine in preference to water, if you choose.
